Germans won both World Championships medals in women’s and two-man bobsled, so coming into the team competition they were the prohibitive favorite, and did not disappoint.
Despite only being fastest in two of the four portions of the race (women’s skeleton and two-man bobsled), Germany 1 finished well over a half-second ahead of the Russian team anchored by Alexander Tretiakov. Third place went to the Austrian 1 team anchored by Janine Flock and Christina Hengster.
Germany put both of their teams in the top four, with Germany 2 finishing fourth, just ahead of Canada 1 and USA 2, who rounded out the top six.
USA 1 finished seventh, just ahead of Canada 2 and the British team, who finished eighth and ninth. International Teams 2 and 3, both made up of Americans and Canadians, finished 10th and 11th.
