Coming into the second run of the European Championships race at St. Moritz, it was shaping up to be a German 1-2, with Jacqueline Lölling and Tina Hermann ahead of Austrian Janine Flock.The second, however, would see that get mixed up.

Janine Flock put down a beautiful second run, to put the pressure on the German woman, and neither Hermann nor Lölling could keep pace. Hermann would settle for second, while Lölling would drop to fourth.

Marina Gilardoni came into the second run in ninth, but set a track record with her third-place run, a half-second ahead of anyone else who came down the Swiss track. Laura Deas finished fifth and Annie O’Shea of the United States sixth.

With her win, Flock takes the European Championship, with Hermann in silver and Gilardoni in bronze.

Kendall Wesenberg scored a top-ten in her first World Cup event in St. Moritiz with an eighth place finish for the United States. Canadians Jane Channell and Elisabeth Vathje finished ninth and 11th, respectively.

Australian Jackie Narracott finished 14th, while British slider Donna Creighton finished just behind her in 15th. Katie Tannenbaum finished 20th for the Virgin Islands.
