From Igls, AUT
After a disappointing fifth race of the season, Great Britain’s Corie Mapp looked to come back strong in the final para-bobsled race of the World Cup season.
Latvian Alvils Brants looked to score a gold medal in the final race of the season, and held a solid .15 advantage over Mapp going into the second run. Mapp was better on the bottom half of the track, and pulled away to victory to take his second gold medal of the season (St. Moritz the other). Brants held on for second, while Andreas Kapfinger of Austria took bronze.
Lonnie Bissonnette of Canada took fourth in the race, and that result gave him the overall World Cup championship for the season. Arturs Klots of Latvia finished fifth.
Seven Jacobo led the way for the United States with a sixth place finish, one spot ahead of teammate Aaron Lanngingham. Jason Sturm struggled on his final two runs of the World Cup season, finishing 13th.
