Home ice advantage has been very big in Oberhof, and it reared its head again in doubles luge. The German team of Wendl & Arlt destroyed the track record by nearly .7 on their way to gold, ahead of teammates Eggert & Benecken, who took silver. The Austrian team of Penz & Fischler took bronze.
Canadians Walker & Snith finished a season-best fourth, while Sics & Sics of Latvia finished fifth, just ahead of Bogdanov & Medvedev of Russia, who took sixth.
It was a disappointing set of runs for the Americans, with Mortensen and Terdiman leading the way in 11th. Krewson and Sherk finished 18th.
