From Park City, USA
Park City is known for it’s close racing, and after the first heat of racing it seemed as though women’s bobsled was going to be just as tight.
Christina Hengster came into the second run as the leader for the first time in her World Cup career, but Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries put down a near-perfect run in her second run. Hengster’s second run was the second-fastest, but almost .2 behind Humphries, and at the end of the day Kaillie Humphries scored gold for Canada.
Hengster’s second run was good enough for silver, while American Jamie Greubel Poser took bronze, falling 35 points back from World Cup leader Humphries in the process.
Anja Schneiderheinze took fourth, with her second run identical to fifth place’s Elfje Willemsen. Mariama Jamanka finished sixth for Germany. An Vannieuwenhuyse finished seventh in the second Belgian sled on a track she’d never seen before this weekend.
The two World Cup rookies for the United States, Nicole Vogt and Brittany Reinbolt finished eighth and ninth. Both teams improved on their second runs.
