In the last race of the first part of the IBSF Season, Nico Walther won on home ice ahead of teammate Maxmilian Arndt. Rico Peter had a bumpy but quick run in his Swiss sled to take home bronze.
Francesco Friedrich finished fourth, moving up one spot from his fifth place first run, while Alexander Kasjanov and Oskars Melbardis took fifth and sixth, respectively.
Steven Holcomb set the pace for the United States in 12th place. The Olympic medalist will look forward to the Christmas break to heal from a thigh injury that has nagged him since the start of the season. Teammate Nick Cunningham finished two spots behind Holcomb in 14th. Both pilots will race their next two races on home ice in Lake Placid and Park City.
Great Britain’s John Jackson made a splash in his return to World Cup racing with a very solid eighth place finish. Teammate Lamin Deen finished 16th after a rough second run dropped him back from 13th in Run 1.
Justin Kripps finished tenth in the lone Canadian sled. He’ll come back to North America looking forward to one Canadian race in Whistler. Jan Vrba moved up three spots in the Czech’s second run to finish 11th.
