From Lake Placid, USA
Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken dominated the doubles race in Lake Placid, winning by a total of over .3 ahead of the Austrian team of Penz & Fischler. The Austrians came into the second run fourth, but a second-quickest second run moved them up to the silver medal. The Latvian team of Sics & Sics took bronze.
Much like Loch in the men’s race, the German team of Wendl & Arlt came into the second run in second, but also found big trouble on the bottom half of Lake Placid’s tricky track, and finished eighth.
The United States finished sixth and seventh on home ice, with the team of Krewson & Sherk finishing just ahead of Mortensen & Terdiman. Canadians Walker & Snith finished 14th.
