From Königssee, GER
Beat Hefti had the fastest start of the weekend in two-man bobsled. That plus some entirely quick runs put the Swiss pilot atop the Königssee podium. Hefti had seemingly no competition, as he dominated both heats. Nico Walther was the top German, finishing in the silver medal position, just ahead of Canadian Justin Kripps. Kripps, the winner of last year’s event, came into the second run in fifth but was quick enough for a bronze medal.
Albrecht Klammer took fourth, while Latvian Oskars Melbardis moved up from tenth to fifth place.
Steven Holcomb led the American effort with an tenth place run. Holcomb’s second run was almost .9 faster than his first to move him up from 14th. teammates Nick Cunningham and Codie Bascue finished 13th and 15th respectively.
Chris Spring had a tough second run, putting the Canadian in 12th place. Lamin Deen finished 18th to lead the way for Great Britain, while Olly Biddulph finished 25th in his first World Cup start on the Königssee, track.
