From Königssee, GER
The FIL got going for the post-Christmas part of their season this weekend, and Natalie Geisenberger picked up right back where she left off in Calgary, atop the podium with a gold medal, this time in Germany. The 2014 Olympic gold medalist was once again fastest in both heats, cruising to victory ahead of Canadian Alex Gough. Gough edged Dajana Eitberger for her second consecutive silver medal, while Eitberger made it two Germans on the podium.
Emily Sweeney was the stop scoring American, finishing fourth, just ahead of German Tatjana Hüfner, who finished fifth.
The Americans, aside from Sweeney, struggled a bit on the Königssee track, with Summer Britcher taking 12th, Erin Hamlin 14th and Julia Clukey 24th. The Canadians fared better, placing three women in the top 10. Joining Gough was Kimberley McRae in 9th and Arianne Jones in 10th.
