From Calgary, CAN
Oskars Melbardis just missed gold in Lake Placid in two-man bobsled, but made up for that in Calgary, taking gold in a very tight two-man event. Melbardis edged Francesco Friedrich and Beat Hefti, with the top three all finishing within .06 of each other. The German Friedrich came into the second run third, just behind Melbardis. Beat Hefti dropped back from first to third with a rough second run. Alexander Kasjanov took forth ahead of Korea, while the team of Won & Seo took fifth.
Steven Holcomb continues to rehab his Achilles injury suffered at the Sochi Olympic, finishing eighth for the United States. Teammates Codie Bascue and Nick Cunningham finished 11th and 13th, respectively.
